Did you know that pollution has the second most harmful impact to the skin after the sun?
Pollution and Dirt:
Exhaust fumes; dust and smoke can leave your skin feeling very grimy after a trip to the City. Throughout the day, pollution is absorbed by the skins natural barrier. The problem is that as the microscopic pollutant particles penetrate through to the epidermis layer of the skin. A lot of damage can be caused over time, which will weaken the skins natural barrier.
Our top tip to protecting your skin from pollution is to cleanse your skin as soon as you get home. Doing this will wash away damaging toxins off of your skin, rather than leaving it to cause havoc deep within your pores.
This is very common in big cities and although it is said to be harmless to drink it, the same doesn’t go for washing your skin with it. Hard water contains high levels of minerals such as; magnesium, calcium and iron and is very alkaline. You would most likely of seen signs of hard water in the form of lime scale around taps and on kettles. Doesn’t sound like something you would want on your skin right?
Next time you are travelling into town, take filtered or bottled water with you, to ensure that your skin is getting the hydration it needs from the correct type of water.
Cities can go from one extreme to the next in a matter of minutes!
Dramatic changes in the weather can leave your skin feeling very irritated as its natural barrier is put under stress.
You can protect the layers of your skin by applying a moisturizer that has sun protection elements within it. This will not only give your skin the hydration it needs to get through the day but it will also guard your skin from harmful UV’s.
